Jo is our experienced retreat cook. Her lovingly prepared vegan and vegetarian food uses as many locally sourced, seasonal ingredients as possible. The kitchen vibes at Bala are homely and relaxed, with music playing, warm drinks flowing, and tasty snacks on tap. Jo knows Bala and the land well and can give you the low down on local walks, stunning sunrise views, and the best spots for a dip in the brook. Jo is a psychotherapeutic counsellor working in private practice in Exeter.

Phoebe is our resident yoga teacher holding the yoga space throughout the weekend. Her sessions are laid back, warm and inclusive of all bodies. In the morning you can expect calming and grounding breath work as you flow through focusing on the mind body connection in restorative and relaxing poses. In the evening sessions she will lead you through mindful and gentle movements, focusing on your meridian pathways to find balance and bliss. Phoebe is an integrative counsellor working in private practice in Exeter.

Lau's sound healing session will be led by the vibrations of the gongs which all have their own unique frequency and healing possibilities. The gongs are supported by a cast of smaller instruments such as the handpan and shruti box that assist in grounding and resetting your nervous system. The sound space is a place for deep healing, guiding a connection with your 'soul self' – the all-knowing, grounded, instinctive part. Lau works for the NHS as a senior psychotherapist.
